Match Report: Away loss to Real Sociedad
Andrea Esteban’s side were off to a good start being well-positioned in order to even the amount of possession. Alas it did not translate into bringing menace into the opposition box.
VCF Femenino managed to shake off the early home side’s dominance over the ten-minute mark while pressing high up the pitch to edge closer to the opposition box.
The Basque side started to dominate again past the 20-minute mark and just seven minutes later the VCF Femenino backline cleared the ball off the line to keep out a N. Eizagirre effort, the most incisive player for the away side.
Franssi made it 1-0 to Real Sociedad and Amaiur made it 2-0 to the home side on 46 minutes. VCF Femenino trailed Real Sociedad by 2-0 at Zubieta.
VCF Femenino emerged in the second half looking halve the arrears. Alas, it was Real Sociedad who scored two quickfire goals on 55 minutes by Cecilia and Amaiur on 57 minutes which made the it an uphill battle for VCF Femenino.
Altuve pulled one back for VCF Femenino after getting on the end of a fine Ana Torroda delivery from the left-hand side. A minute earlier, however, Esther saw his effort come back off the angle from a direct free-kick as VCF Femenino looked more threatening. Lete denied Asun a second goal on 70 minutes.
Andrea’s side kept on pushing but the scoreline remained unchanged and it finished in a 4-1 loss.
